Interesting or Interested?

Quoted by Jim Collins in the intro to his monograph Good to Great and the Social Sector. As a teacher, he writes, he asked a mentor, Professor John Gardner (Google him), how he might become a better teacher. Gardner answered: “It occurs to me, Jim, that you spend too much time trying to become interesting. Why don’t you invest more time in becoming interested?”
